Dehydrating sweet potatoes, embracing gluten freedom, and learning about Seed Synbiotic

Happy Friday! Welcome back to the Autoimmune Freedom Weekly Digest!

Dehydrator Adventures: My kitchen has been humming with the sound of my first dehydrator! After making homemade fruit leather in the oven, I decided to upgrade to a dehydrator. This week’s highlight has been sweet potatoes: both plain as well as seasoned. I'm looking forward to experimenting with a variety of fruits and vegetables and revisiting fruit leather.  If you have any dehydrating tips or favorite recipes, I'd love to hear them!

What I’m Reading

Gluten Freedom by Dr. Alessio Fasano: Still reading Gluten Freedom! I’ve been enjoying the book and learning new things about gluten and navigating a gluten-free lifestyle. Something that makes the book particularly impactful is its exploration of the emotional and social challenges of a gluten-free diet, from selecting different meal options to explaining diet restrictions in social settings. It thoughtfully delves into the nuances of managing dietary limitations.

Science Spotlight

Seed Synbiotic Review: A Sports Illustrated article by dietitian Jillian Kubala caught my attention. It dives into the benefits of Seed's DS-01® Daily Synbiotic. A synbiotic is a supplement that is a combination of both probiotics and prebiotics. Seed, unique for its blend of 24 probiotic strains and prebiotics from Indian pomegranate, uses ViaCap® technology for enhanced survival through the digestive system. Seed's product is vegan and free from common allergens. While definitive evidence on its impact on specific health conditions is pending, it shows promise for improving digestive health. Kubala's own trial didn't yield significant changes, attributing it to her already healthy diet. Overall, Seed's DS-01® appears to be a well-rounded choice for those focusing on gastrointestinal health, but it's essential to consult healthcare professionals before starting any new supplement regimen.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Take good care,

Rebecca
